The 3G Network Shutdown
Starting in June 2021, all three German mobile network operators – Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, and Telefónica – will progressively shut down their 3G networks and put the freed-up resources into expanding LTE and 5G. In three cities, Vodafone will end its 3G service as early as the beginning of May 2021.
The 3G shutdown in Germany does not just affect consumers with older mobile phones: numerous devices in vehicles, ticket machines, and more are affected by the transition.
